We highly recommend using resources from the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center if you want to learn how to support a friend better. BARCC services, including their 24-hour hotline at 800-841-8371 is free for everyone. There are also specific resources on their website on supporting teenagers, friends, family members, college students, male survivors, and GLBT survivors in particular. Please do consider using their website and calling, as they can help you help a survivor.
Here are other resources that we find useful in learning how to support survivors:

- “Supporting a Survivor of Sexual Assault”: A zine – http://iambecauseweare.files.wordpress.com/2007/02/survivor-support-booklet1.pdf
- “Supporting Survivors”: An information sheet from Men Can Stop Rape – http://www.mencanstoprape.org/Handouts/supporting-survivors.html
